FAQ
Getting Started
How do I start a project or discuss my requirements?
Simply start a chat on our website. You’ll be speaking directly with a Creative Director, not a salesperson. We’ll discuss your design concept, scale, preferred mood, and the story you want your visuals to tell. Every architect has a unique design language — our first conversation helps us translate that language into visuals that feel alive. Once we understand your vision, we prepare a tailored proposal with timeline, scope, and team structure that fits both your project and workflow.
Can you match the exact design intent and material palette of my project?
Yes — that’s the foundation of our process. We study your drawings, mood boards, and material references before the first render is even started. Our directors interpret not just what the design looks like, but why you made those design choices — the way a surface catches light, how a texture feels in space, or the atmosphere you want to convey. This ensures the final render doesn’t just represent your project — it reflects your thinking as a designer.
How do you ensure my inputs are understood correctly?
Every project begins with a creative briefing session where we dive into your intent — function, context, emotion, and light. You’ll see this converted into a structured brief document and reference board that our artists follow throughout production. We keep architectural terminology and accuracy front and center, so your details — from joinery to façade rhythm — are never lost in translation.
Can you handle confidential or unpublished design projects?
Absolutely. Many of the world’s most admired design studios trust us with competition entries and confidential proposals. Every file and communication is secured in a private workspace, accessible only to your assigned team. We’re happy to sign NDAs, and we often remain invisible partners behind major projects — your design integrity and privacy come first.
Can I see sample renders similar to my project type?
Of course. Once we understand your project’s scale and typology — residential, commercial, hospitality, or institutional — we’ll share curated case studies that match your design sensibility. You’ll see how we handle materials, natural light, and spatial depth across similar projects. These references help you visualize what’s possible and trust that we already understand your world.
Process & Communication
How will we communicate during the project?
Every Renderby project is handled by a dedicated team — including a Creative Director, Lead Artist, Art Director, Quality Assurer, and Operations Head who oversee timelines and coordination. All communication happens in your private Renderby workspace, where you can chat live with your director, upload files, and track progress in real time.
You can click directly on the preview image to mark feedback, highlight areas, or leave notes — no long emails, no confusion. Every comment is organized by stage, and your team can see updates instantly. It’s a workflow designed to feel like an extension of your own studio — responsive, structured, and creatively alive.
What file formats do you accept?
We work with almost every major format used in architecture and interior design — including SketchUp, Revit, 3ds Max, Rhino, DWG, and PDF. If your model isn’t optimized for rendering, our team can clean and prepare it before starting. Even hand sketches or conceptual plans are fine — we can build detailed 3D geometry from them. What matters most is clarity of your intent, not complexity of your files.
Will I get progress updates?
Yes — and we make them meaningful. You’ll receive stage-by-stage previews:
White Preview → Lighting & Mood → Texturing → Final Render.
Each stage gives you full control to review design proportion, daylight direction, and material mood before we advance. Architects often appreciate this structure because it mirrors the design development process — open for input early, precise in the end.
Can you work directly with my design team or studio interns?
Absolutely. We often integrate with in-house design teams, interns, or even external consultants (like landscape or lighting designers). You can delegate direct coordination to us — we’ll manage drawing updates, model refinements, and version control while keeping you in the loop. It saves you time and ensures communication flows seamlessly across everyone involved.
Will I have someone guiding me throughout the project?
Always. The same Creative Director who begins your chat stays with you until the final delivery. They translate your brand goals into visual direction, brief the artists, and ensure the output aligns with your expectations. You won’t need to repeat context or chase updates — your director carries the creative vision from start to finish, just like a design partner sitting beside you.
What happens if there’s a design change mid-way?
Design evolution is part of every creative journey — and we plan for it. If your client or team updates drawings or materials mid-project, we’ll always try to accommodate those adjustments at no additional charge, provided they fall within the existing 3D setup and scope.
However, if a completely new model needs to be imported or replaced, it requires redoing the base setup, camera alignment, lighting calibration, and material mapping from scratch. In such cases, a small revision fee applies — not as a penalty, but to account for the fresh technical groundwork.
Our goal is to stay flexible and transparent, ensuring your updated design is represented beautifully without unnecessary surprises in cost or schedule.
Budget, Timeline & Quality
What if my project has a limited budget — can you still take it up?
Yes, absolutely. We understand that not every project comes with a large visualization budget — and that’s okay. What matters most to us is the idea behind your design. For high-end projects, we assign our Master and Skilled Artists who specialize in complex lighting and fine detailing. For tighter budgets, we match you with our Emerging Artists, carefully selected from the top 1% of applicants globally and guided by our senior Creative Directors.
This structure allows us to respect your constraints while still delivering a render that feels thoughtful, atmospheric, and distinctly “Renderby.” If your project excites us creatively, we often go beyond the brief to help it shine within your range.
Will choosing an emerging artist affect my output quality?
Every project at Renderby — whether executed by a Master, Skilled, or Emerging Artist — is directed by a Creative Director who defines lighting, composition, and tone. So the process and supervision remain equally strong.
However, we believe in being transparent: while our Skilled and Master Artists are ideal for urgent timelines or highly detailed projects, Emerging Artists thrive when the design is clear and the timeline is generous. They may take a little longer, but the outcome is still exceptional — often better than 99% of what’s available in the market. Their strength lies in their dedication, structured workflow, and communication clarity.
So while you might not get the same turnaround speed or instinctive polish that comes from years of mastery, you’ll still receive work that meets Renderby’s standards of realism, mood, and design integrity — guided every step by our senior directors.
How long does a typical render project take?
Most architectural or interior projects take 5–7 working days for final delivery, depending on complexity, number of views, and the level of detail in your model. If the model is clean and finalized, the process moves faster. Larger projects or multi-view presentations may take longer, but we’ll always share a defined timeline before we start. Our goal is to deliver fast without compromising the artistry — never rushed, always ready.
What if I have an urgent deadline?
When timelines are tight, we scale our team instead of rushing the process. More artists are assigned to your project, each handling specific views or components under the guidance of one Creative Director. This ensures speed without sacrificing cohesion. The approach is similar to how a design studio handles major submissions — multiple hands, one direction, consistent quality. We’ve managed same-week deliveries many times while maintaining Renderby-level precision.
If multiple artists work on my project, will the style still look consistent?
Yes — because all our artists work within a single art direction framework. Before production begins, your Creative Director defines a lighting setup, tonal reference, and color balance that every artist follows. Once the images are rendered, our final post-production step unifies them through a single grading process. Whether one artist or five work on your project, every image will look like it came from the same lens, the same eye, the same vision.
Do you work weekends or holidays for tight deadlines?
For priority or competition projects, yes. We have teams across multiple time zones, so production can continue around the clock if needed. Weekend or holiday work is always discussed transparently in advance — not as an emergency add-on, but as a planned workflow adjustment to meet your launch or submission date.
What if I’m not satisfied with the final render?
We refine until you’re proud of it. Our stage-wise feedback system ensures we never reach final delivery without your approvals at every step. But if something still doesn’t feel right, we revisit it collaboratively. We’ll discuss what’s missing — be it emotion, lighting balance, or design emphasis — and adjust thoughtfully. Your satisfaction isn’t a final checkbox for us; it’s part of our design ethic.
Creativity & Technicals
Do you use AI tools or traditional rendering methods?
We use both — but always with intention. AI helps speed up background tasks like sky replacements or texture refinements, while the heart of the process — composition, lighting, and storytelling — is still entirely human. Every render is hand-built by artists who understand architecture, not algorithms. Think of AI as an assistant in our studio — efficient but never in charge. The emotion, realism, and atmosphere you see in a Renderby image come from an artist’s eye, not a machine’s shortcut.
How do you handle lighting to make spaces feel realistic and emotional?
Light is the soul of architecture — and we treat it that way. Before rendering begins, our Creative Director studies your project’s orientation, fenestration, and design mood to define a lighting narrative — whether it’s soft northern light for minimalism, golden-hour warmth for hospitality, or sharp contrasts for concrete-heavy forms. We simulate real-world sun angles and bounce behavior, so your render feels like a photograph taken in your building, not a digital imitation of it. Every frame should make you feel the space before it exists.
Can you create conceptual renders when the design isn’t finalized?
Yes — some of our most powerful work begins in the concept stage. You can share sketches, partial models, or even massing diagrams. We visualize atmosphere, proportion, and intent rather than detailing. These early renders help clients or juries grasp the design’s soul before technical drawings exist. Think of them as “mood films” in still form — they convey emotion, direction, and scale long before you finalize the structure.
Can you maintain consistent visual style across multiple views or projects?
Absolutely. We build a visual direction profile for every client — documenting preferred camera heights, tonality, and post-production mood. This ensures that whether you request one render today or a series of visuals across multiple projects next year, they all feel like they belong to your brand. For firms with multiple ongoing projects, this consistency becomes your visual identity — unified, elegant, unmistakably yours.
Delivery & Extensions
What formats will I receive at the end of the project?
You’ll receive ultra-high-resolution images ready for both print and digital presentation. We deliver in standard formats such as JPG, PNG, or TIFF, and can also supply layered PSD files upon request for in-house adjustments. For competition boards or large-format printing, we optimize color and sharpness for accurate reproduction. If your studio needs images integrated into Revit sheets, PowerPoint decks, or project portfolios, we prepare export-ready versions. Every file arrives polished, organized, and ready to present — no post-production required on your side.
Can you help with competition or presentation-ready visuals?
Yes — we love that energy. Competition visuals are a different craft: they must express not just design clarity but emotion under pressure. Our Creative Directors art-direct every image to capture narrative, context, and ambition — ensuring your entry stands apart. Whether it’s a conceptual collage or a cinematic visualization, we tailor lighting, color, and composition to the story you’re telling. You focus on design; we’ll make the world see what you feel.
Can you provide animation or walkthroughs for my project?
Absolutely. We create cinematic walkthroughs and short films that carry your audience through space, rhythm, and mood. Every shot is storyboarded like a film scene — camera movements flow naturally, light changes with emotion, and sound design can be integrated for deeper impact. Whether you need a 30-second teaser for marketing or a full narrative walkthrough for a client presentation, we handle it with the same precision as our still renders — every frame intentional, every transition meaningful.
Can you assist with post-production, boards, or marketing integration?
Yes. Many firms use Renderby as their extended visualization partner for everything beyond the raw renders — from preparing competition boards to creating brochure imagery or web banners. We ensure layout, color, and typography align with your firm’s visual identity. You can hand us your content folder, and we’ll assemble presentation-ready boards or campaign assets that look cohesive and refined. Our goal is to help your design be experienced beautifully, not just seen.
